I am a writer and communications consultant based in Ithaca, NY. Before launching a freelance career in 2010, I worked for over ten years as a corporate writer in diverse fields including biotechnology, higher education, food service, and agri-marketing. Guiding professionals and executives in these fields, I developed newsletters, magazine articles, press releases, websites, video scripts, laboratory reports, conference posters and oral presentations, among other marketing and public relations documents. Currently I serve as a communications specialist for Cornell Engineering.
My fiction has appeared in over twenty-five literary publications and has received several awards/honors, including a fellowship from the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County and a New Writer Award from Sequestrum magazine. I served as artistic director for Ithaca's 2018 & 2019 Spring Writes Literary Festival and I currently serve on the boards of the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County and Story House Ithaca.
I earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a concentration in science writing from Cornell University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Binghamton University.
